Sajjad today met with a group of students from Lancashire who were visiting the European Parliament in Brussels.
The group, who are studying Public Service and Community Leadership were visiting from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in Preston and were looking to learn more about parliamentary procedure and the inner workings of the European Union.
A number of the students present were former pupils of Nelson and Colne College - where Saj studied A-levels - and showed a similar knack for questioning by grilling the North West MEP on relevant political topics.
Mr Karim commented on the visit saying: “It was wonderful to welcome such a brilliant group of students to the European Parliament in Brussels. It’s good to see students taking a real interest in European law-making.
“I really enjoyed my time at Nelson and Colne College and it’s great meeting fellow former students – albeit slightly younger than me!
“They raised a number of highly relevant and topical questions, some of which really kept me on my toes, as should be done when asking questions to politicians, and I wish them the best of luck with their future studies.”
