Every year on 27th November Lancastrians everywhere celebrate Lancashire Day.
This year attended Accrington Town Hall at the invitation of Mayor Cllr Marlene Howarth, to hear the traditional reading of the Lancashire Proclamation by the Town Crier.
Lancashire Day celebrates the historic County Palatine of Lancashire which extends from Cumbria to Merseyside, as distinct from the administrative boundaries of the County of Lancashire.
On this day in 1295 the first elected representatives from Lancashire were called to Westminster by King Edward 1 to attend what later became known as the "Model Parliament".
