A gala dinner was arranged by the Lal Qila Group in Manchester on 7 June to celebrate the award of Sitara-i-Quaid-i-Azam to Sajjad Karim, Member of the European Parliament and Sitara-i-Imtiaz to Amir Khan, World Champion boxer.
Sajjad’s comments regarding postal vote fraud in Lancashire, particularly Pendle, have been supported by other politicians. Local and national media have given the issue considerable coverage including local Pendle newspaper, the Nelson Leader.
The Conservative MEP team in the European Parliament have won an assurance from a leading EU Commissioner to ensure new VAT rules introduced in January, do not have an adverse impact on micro-enterprises.
Ahead of this week's National Farmer's Union Conference, Sajjad met with Cheshire farmers at Acton Bridge. Accompanied by Graham Evans MP, the discussion with local NFU members included a wide variety of issues currently facing the agricultural industry and our rural communities.
Sajjad attended and spoke at the re-launch of the Manchester Council of Mosques, held at Manchester Town Hall yesterday. The MCOM represents the established mosques in Manchester and it is the gateway to Manchester’s Muslim community.
